Our trip to London

Our trip to London

From 21st to 24th March 2011 our class 10a went on a trip to London by plane.

On the 21st we had to get up very early because we had to be at the airport at 4.45 am.

First we had to check in.

After we had checked in we saw the Prime minister of Lower Saxony, Mr. David McAllister, he flew with the same plane we were flying with. Finally we were in the plane. For some of us it was the first flight. We started at 6.45 am. At 7am GMT we arrived in Gatwick. There was a time shift of minus one hour, so we had to put our watches back.

Everybody got their luggage but one suitcase was missing. It was our teacher’s suitcase. We had to wait a couple of minutes and used the time to eat some sweets. We didn’t get our teacher’s luggage back and we had to leave without it. The next day the suitcase was delivered to our hostel. After that we took the train to Victoria Station. From Victoria Station we took the underground to Shepherd’s Bush. Because we all had travel cards we didn’t have to buy tickets.

Shepherd’s Bush was the place where our hostel was.  After we had arrived at St. Christopher’s Inn we stored our luggage in the cellar. Then we had some free time to discover the area and we had some breakfast.

At 1pm we had to meet at Shepherd’s Bush Station to take the tube to Westminster Station.

At 2pm we met our guide Maria to start our sightseeing tour.

During this tour we saw the Big Ben, the House of Parliament,

 Westminster Abbey,

 the Buckingham Palace

and the London Eye.

Sometimes it was very exhausting to listen but it was quite good.

At Piccadilly Circus we split up and had free time until 10pm. Some of us went to the Chelsea fan shop.

The others went back to Shepherd’s Bush and went shopping in the Westfield Shopping Centre.

In the centre was a store called “EAT.”, where you could buy a lot of delicious things, like sandwiches, salads, wraps, baguettes and cakes. Most of us went to bed early, because we were very tired.

In the boys’ room there were some problems, there was some mould on the ceiling and the beds were very uncomfortable. The window was out of order, because you couldn’t close it and in the girls’ room you couldn’t open it. It wasn’t that good.

On the next morning the hostel offered breakfast. It was only toast with jam and cornflakes. Most of us didn’t eat the breakfast. After we had eaten, we could choose what we wanted to do in our free time. Some of us went by bus to Piccadilly Circus.

They wanted to go shopping. The others went to Covent Garden, they wanted to buy some souvenirs. In the evening some of us went to Chinatown to eat Asian food. On the way back they saw some break dancers at Piccadilly Circus.

Part of our group went to Tower Bridge to take pictures.

On Wednesday one group went to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guard.

The others met up at 1pm at Westminster Pier to start a boat trip to Greenwich. They saw some of the sights, for example the London Bridge, the Tower of London and passed the Tower Bridge.

After that they wanted to go to the Observatory. There was the zero meridian. Some people visited the London Bridge Experience it is the dark history of London Bridge. In the evening some of us went to the London Eye.

At this time the others were at home and relaxed in their rooms.

On Thursday - our last day in London- we had to get up early because we had to pack our suitcases and clean the rooms. At 4pm we started to go to Victoria Station by bus. After we had arrived at Victoria Station we took the train to Gatwick. First we had to check in and hand in our luggage. Our plane took off at 8.45 GMT. The flight back was better than the first one because we saw London by night. After we had arrived in Hanover at 11 pm our parents waited for us.

The class trip was amazing because we had a lot of free time and we saw a lot of sights. We would do it again any time.
